Where did that comparative national GDP to national debt chart come from? In the case of Canada for 2007 it's dead wrong. The World Bank, CIA and IMF stats all generally agree that Canada's total GDP was $1.3 trillion. So with a national debt of less than $400 billion, that's a 30% debt-GDP ratio figure, not 60%.
